QPH - Quick Pulse Heat Sealing

Quick Pulse Heat (QPH) sealing technology delivers rapid, precisely controlled heating and cooling for high-speed intermittent sealing applications. QPH produces narrow 1-1.5 mm seals that reduce film consumption while maintaining exceptional seal integrity. Its rapid thermal response makes it ideal for demanding packaging environments where speed, repeatability and material efficiency are critical.

The QPH Sealing Process

Quick Pulse Heat (QPH) technology uses a rapid heat-and-cool cycle to create strong, hermetic seals at high production speeds.

During the sealing cycle, the jaws close on the packaging material before the heat is supplied to the seal bar which is precisely controlled to the required temperature by a dedicated temperature controller. Heat and pressure are applied evenly across the sealing surface for the specified dwell time, creating a fully fused seal.

Immediately the sealing bar is rapidly cooled by an integrated water-cooling system. This rapid cooling allows higher fusion temperatures to be used without overheating the material, helping maintain seal integrity during handling and downstream processing.

The complete heat, seal and cooling cycle takes only milliseconds, enabling fast production rates while maintaining consistent seal quality. QPH typically produces thin 1–1.5 mm seals, reducing film consumption without compromising package performance.

The patented blade-and-anvil design combines cutting and sealing in a single operation while minimising cleaning and maintenance. Precise temperature control also reduces film build-up on the sealing components, helping maximise uptime and process reliability.

Why QPH Technology?

Rapid Heating and Cooling

Rapid thermal cycling delivers precise heat control during every sealing cycle, supporting high production speeds and repeatable seal quality.

Narrow Seal Widths

Produces narrow 1-1.5 mm seals, reducing film usage while maintaining seal integrity and pack strength.

Reduced Film Consumption

Thinner seals reduce packaging material requirements, helping lower film consumption and operating costs. Typical pay-back period on film saving alone of 1 – 2 years.

High-Speed Production

Suitable for intermittent VFFS and HFFS packaging lines where fast cycle times and repeatable performance are essential. Operational outputs t 100+ cycles, application dependent.

Retrofittable for Existing Packaging Lines

Quick Pulse Heat (QPH) sealing technology is designed to retrofit easily into existing VFFS and HFFS packaging machinery, providing manufacturers with a cost-effective upgrade without replacing complete production equipment. As a result, manufacturers can improve sealing performance while minimising installation time and disruption to production. Typical retrofit installation completed in approx. 1.5 days, depending on the application.

Unlike traditional crimp sealing systems, QPH has no exposed hot bars or sharp cutting knives for operators to handle, improving production line safety. The patented blade-and-anvil mechanism combines cutting and sealing in a single operation, while its design helps minimise film build-up, reducing cleaning, maintenance and unplanned downtime.

Reduce Film Consumption

QPH technology creates thinner seals, allowing manufacturers to use less packaging film while maintaining reliable seal integrity.

Depending on the application, this can reduce film consumption by on average 10%, which helps lower material costs and supports more sustainable packaging through reduced plastic usage and waste.

Proven Across High-Speed Packaging Applications

QPH sealing technology is used across a wide range of high-speed packaging applications including fresh produce, vegetables, salads, frozen foods, bakery products, dry goods and pet food.

Compatible with thermal plastic material such as PE, PP, PS, PET, PVC, Laminates, Biodegradable & Compostable films.

Its rapid heating and cooling cycles deliver consistent seal quality while helping manufacturers maximise throughput, minimise downtime – all while reducing packaging material.
