IPH - ImPulse Heat Sealing

ImPulse Heat (IPH) is a highly configurable heat sealing technology that delivers precise, repeatable seals across a wide range of thermoplastic materials and demanding applications. Using true temperature feedback and accurate process control, IPH produces consistently high-quality seals while providing the flexibility to accommodate different product sizes, sealing profiles and complex manufacturing requirements.

The IPH Sealing Process

ImPulse Heat (IPH) sealing technology uses a controlled electrical impulse to generate heat only when required, producing accurate, repeatable seals with true temperature feedback. Unlike continuously heated systems, the sealing element heats rapidly during the sealing cycle before cooling immediately afterwards, improving process control while reducing unnecessary heat exposure to the packaging material.

Heat is generated exactly where it is required - at the sealing interface. This allows precise energy transfer into the material while maintaining excellent seal quality. Low-mass sealing elements provide rapid heat-up and cool-down, while true temperature feedback continuously monitors the sealing process to maintain consistent performance throughout every cycle. Temperature measurements are taken up to 50 times per second, enabling accurate thermal control and virtually lag-free data retrieval.

Every IPH system is engineered for the individual application and can be configured with a range of sealing profiles, cutters, air-blast cooling, water cooling and bespoke sealing modules. Element expansion compensators maintain consistent sealing tension throughout the process, helping deliver reliable, high-integrity seals across a wide range of thermoplastic materials and complex applications.

Why IPH Technology?

True Temperature Feedback

True °C temperature feedback continuously monitors sealing performance, providing accurate thermal control and repeatable seal quality throughout every sealing cycle.

Rapid Thermal Response

Low-mass sealing elements deliver rapid heat-up and cool-down, generating heat only where it is required for efficient, controlled sealing performance.

Configurable System Design

Available as individual seal bars, complete jaw modules or bespoke systems with cutters, air-blast cooling, water cooling and specialised sealing profiles to suit specific applications.

Large Format Capability

Available in sealing lengths from compact seal bars to 4,000 mm+ (subject to application), making IPH suitable for everything from small components to large-format packaging systems.

Precision Sealing for Complex Applications

IPH sealing bars incorporate a compliant weld face that compensates for variations in material thickness and surface flatness. Unlike rigid sealing tools, the compliant sealing surface compresses around contours within the package, helping achieve strong, hermetic seals even where folds, seams or product irregularities are present.

This makes IPH particularly well suited to demanding applications where seal integrity is critical, including medical packaging, battery components, industrial products and specialist flexible packaging.

Precise Temperature and Pressure Control

Dedicated electronic temperature controllers continuously monitor and regulate the sealing process, ensuring accurate heat delivery throughout every sealing cycle. Adjustable sealing pressure allows operators to tailor the process to individual materials and product requirements, while optional single- or double-sided heating provides additional process flexibility.

Compatible with a wide range of thermoplastic materials, including polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), polyester (PET), PVC, laminates, biodegradable and compostable films. IPH provides reliable sealing performance across a diverse range of manufacturing applications.

Applications and Material Compatibility

IPH is trusted across industries where reliable, repeatable sealing performance is essential, including medical and pharmaceutical, battery development, industrial manufacturing and food production. Every system is engineered around the customer's specific application, combining accurate temperature control, configurable tooling and proven sealing technology to deliver consistent production performance.

Whether sealing simple flexible packaging or large, complex products, IPH provides the process control, versatility and reliability required for today's demanding manufacturing environments.

Compatible with a wide range of thermoplastic materials including PE, PP, PS, PET, PVC, laminates, biodegradable and compostable films, IPH can be configured to suit diverse packaging formats and material constructions while maintaining consistent seal quality.
