Lamb Weston is a world leading brand in high quality potato products, and sold in over 100 countries around the world. Supplying frozen potato products to customers in the food service, quick service, industry and retail market segments.

The application

Due to their high volume of production, Lamb Weston approached us with a simple brief. Help increase packaging production, and reduce packaging waste and cost.

Our Quick Pulse Heat (QPH) sealing technology is a cyclic system that can be used on all thermoplastic films. It incorporates a unique seal bar and anvil design. This creates a narrow width seal, therefore demonstrating material savings with superior performance characteristics.

We conducted a thorough onsite survey by our expert engineers. Based on our experience working for other frozen food manufacturers, we established that QPH offered the best solution. Consequently, a free trial of the QPH sealing technology was provided for Lamb Weston to test.

How does QPH save our customers packaging waste?

The seal created by QPH typically 1-1.5mm wide. This means a film material saving of approximately 10% against traditional crimp seals on the cross seal alone.

The Results

The results were outstanding which included a decrease in film costs and spares. Within months, Lamb Weston invested in the retrofit of QPH sealing technology on their remaining bagging machines. They reported that across their whole packaging production line, they saw a significant decrease in film use immediately.
